It turns out that the 'tables' at the back were sunken tatami mat seating. I think maybe she thought foreigners preferred tables, but not me, this was exactly what i wanted :) I clambered into my seat, ordered a bunch of food and then sat back to take in my surroundings.

What was your memorable meal while travelling?
As always thanks to the lovely girls Emma and Kelly and Rebecca for this travel link up.
My gosh that is food beauty there! I guess I should think about Japan for more than just the snow monkeys as the food looks incredible!
ReplyDeleteIt is, they take a lot of pride in presenting even the most basic of meals.
DeleteWhat an awesome experience! You really painted the picture well!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sammy, its was fun people watching for sure.
DeleteThat food is seriously making me hungry!
ReplyDeleteI made myself hungry during this post too!
DeleteHahaha! I want to eat at every place you took a photo now - recreate your food holiday :-D
ReplyDeleteOh thank you!
DeleteIt's so true though, a truly good meal isn't just about food - there are SO many other factors! We struggled with the sunken tables, I'll be honest with you - my legs just don't fold that way.
ReplyDeleteOoooh proper Okonomiyaki, there is nothing like it.
Those tables can be tricky! If you like Okonomiyaki, have you tried Abeno in London?
